In the fruit sector, fresh grapes have long been a test of supply chain management due to high perishability and loss rates. Huaang Food Processing recently announced the completion of its direct-sourcing base integration from two high-quality table grape production regions in China, launching a fresh grape business that integrates field pre-cooling, graded packaging, and cold chain direct delivery.
Huaang Food Processing stated that its fresh grape varieties are mainly seedless red and green table grapes, harvested at a minimum sugar content of 16° Brix, with tight clusters and intact bloom. To minimize the time from harvest to cold storage, the company has built mobile pre-cooling stations directly in the production areas. Fresh grapes go from harvest to cold storage within four hours.
“In the past, fresh grape exports often suffered from berry drop and mildew in the mid-to-late transport phase. By inspecting each cluster, using specialized fresh-keeping liners, and precise temperature control, we have reduced loss rates from the industry average of 15% to below 6%,” said the head of the fresh produce division. Over the next three months, Huaang Food Processing plans to launch several fresh grape family packs on e-commerce platforms, featuring a “direct from orchard, delivered within 48 hours” promise.
